IX International Engineering Championship "CASE-IN" MGRI: details and results.

On March 17, students of Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State Geological Prospecting University undertook the qualifying stage of the "CASE-IN" Championship in the areas of "Geological Prospecting", "Mining" and "Oil and Gas Engineering ". It was attended by 83 students of MGRI University – 22 teams, of which 15 performed in intramural format. 

Participants in each direction were offered cases dedicated to a single theme of the championship –  "Sustainable Development". The teams were given 10 days to develop technological solutions and on March 17 they defended their projects in front of an expert jury. 

Teams participating in the Mining direction: «SHPS», «Silver Stone», «Зигвайрэс», «РосГорМГРИ», «Усы Орджоникидзе».

Teams participating in the Oil and Gas Business: «BusyModern», «Drill Team», «Gas v pol», «Oil World», «OilCom», «Баррель нефти», «Нефтяные магнаты».

Teams participating in the "Geological Exploration" direction: «Champions Way», «GeoStars», «Геокул», «Дай-ка трубку», «Искра», «Курпирчупша», «Шпреуштейн», «Ырка», «Восточный экспресс», «GeoКоманда».

The jury consisted of 14 leading experts of MGRI: in the direction of "Oil and Gas Engineering " - senior teacher Diana Kudryavtseva, teachers Batyr Ovezov, Kseniia Scherbakova and Anastasia Syrchina; in the direction of "Mining" - Director of the Engineering Center Anri Skripka, professor Evgenii Komarov, associate professors Alexander Vilmis and Dmitrii Neguritsa, senior teacher Elena Diachenko; in the direction of "Geological Exploration" - Professors Alexander Vercheba, Pyotr Ignatov and Victor Diakonov, Associate Professors Yurii Zabaikin and Natalia Pogrebs.

In addition, case solutions of MGRI teams were evaluated by representatives of industrial companies – “ALROSA”, “Tatneft”, “YATEK”.

The results of the Championship were announced on March 24.

Winners in the direction of "Mining":

  • First place - the «РосГорМГРИ» team (Danil Galantsev, Alexey Evstigneev, Anastasia Chuchadeeva and Alexandra Shutko).
  • Second place - the «Зигвайрэс» team (Andrey Alifashkin, Andrey Anisimov, Victoria Popova and Vadim Timofeev).
  • Third place - the «SHPS» team (Ilya Yakovlev, Anna Mitrushina, Yaroslav Srebrodolsky and Vadim Shellorov).

Winners in the " Geological Exploration " direction:

  • First place - the team «Шпреуштейн» (Mikhail Strelnikov, Maria Tomarovskaya, Ivan Mishin and Ksenia Polbina).
  • Second place - the team «Champions Way» (Sofia Davydenko, Ivan Zudenkov, Lev Kononenko and Anna Shcherbakova).
  • Third place - the «Геокул» team (Danil Golovastov, Elizaveta Goncharova and Anna Izmailova).

Winners in the "Oil and Gas" direction:

  • First place - the «BusyModern» team (Vitaly Kazaku, Leyli Kalendarova, Sergey Nesterenko and Arseniy Chekalov).
  • Second place - the «Gas v pol team» (Alexander Reznikov, Yegor Revyakin, Ilya Tumoyan and Viktor Bondarev).
  • Third place - the "Drill Team" (Bulat Magsumov, Artur Nurumbayev, Sabir Gubaidullin and Liji Minjirov).
The winners will take part in the semi-finals of the Championship, where they will compete with teams from the federal district. The international finals "CASE-IN" will be held in Moscow and bring together the best engineering teams of students from universities of Russia and the CIS countries.

The winners of the finals will receive valuable prizes, the opportunity to take part in the all-Russian industry summer forums, advantages in admission to the Master and Postgraduate study programs of 20 universities ─ championship partners, and will also be able to undertake internships in leading companies of the industry.
