MGRI SPE activist wins the XVI International Forum-competition «"Actual problems of subsurface use»

Vitaly Kazaku, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Exploration and Development Technology and ex-vice president of MGRI SPE Student Chapter, won in the second section of the forum-competition, "Promising Design and Engineering Solutions in Well Construction", with his project "Development of a software-algorithmic module which calculates pulsed circulation parameters in horizontal wells".

The International Forum-competition of students and young scientists has been held at the St. Petersburg Mining University since 2005. For seventeen years, the forum-contest has been an open discussion platform for discussing topical issues related to the development of mineral resources and fuel and energy complexes in Russia and the world.

Participation in the forum-competition is a unique opportunity to speak to an audience of participants from more than 50 countries, meet with representatives of government agencies and experts from the academic and business community, find potential partners and share ideas with young scientists from other countries. During three days of breakout sessions, participants presented their research online and discussed the most important problems of the industry with leading experts of the mineral resource complex.

"The forum-competition was held at the highest level, the participants presented highly detailed reports, and the jury consisted of leading experts from their industries. I was able to participate in the Russian-British Energy Dialogue, which discussed issues of sustainable development in the energy sector, as well as raised questions about decarbonization and the transition to hydrogen energy.

At the forum, I met new people, talked to engineers from leading companies, and found out what topical issues are being addressed by the global scientific community. On my own behalf, I would like to thank the curators and advisors of the MGRI SPE Sudent Chapter, who provided support and advised me on technical and organizational issues," - Vitaly said.

This victory is not the first one for Vitaly Kazaku this year. In spring, the All-Russian Conference-competition of students and postgraduates "Actual problems of Subsurface Use" was held at the St. Petersburg State Mining University under the auspices of UNESCO. Vitaly became the winner in the nomination "Promising technical and technological solutions in the field of well construction".
