EnerGenius from MGRI: a fourth-year student wins the oil case marathon

Artysh Hertek, a student of the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics of Oil and Gas, returned victorious from the «EnerGenious-2021» case marathon, the results of which were summed up in Khanty-Mansiysk during the IV International Youth Scientific and Practical Forum «Oil Capital».

The case marathon was held in a business game format. The participants were divided into teams of 5-6 people, and each team proposed its own version of the project implementation.

Artysh joined the team along with students from MGIMO, RUDN, St. Petersburg Mining University and the branch of the Tyumen Industrial University in Nizhnevartovsk. In total, students from 17 Russian universities took part in the case marathon.

The marathon started on November 26, 2020 and was held in three stages: at the first stage, the participants were supposed to calculate oil reserves and analyze the geographic and economic situation in the regions; at the second stage they dealt with development and operation issues; and at the third stage (which was intramural), they worked out the problems of product sales and economic aspects. During its work, the team “carried out” the entire cycle of oil production from the oil field, since the tasks were similar to the tasks solved by specialists in a real situation in accordance with the methodology of the leading companies in the oil and gas industry.

The awards ceremony took place on March 25 in Khanty-Mansiysk, at the site of the Oil Capital Forum. Artysh Hertek was awarded a 1st degree diploma in the “Creation of a concept for the development of a hydrocarbon field” direction.
